Over the years, travel has taken me across borders and into countless classrooms. And somehow, every journey brings me back to where it all began—the energy, uncertainty, and wide-eyed wonder of those first years teaching internationally.
As I travel now, I often carve out time to visit international schools—sometimes to reconnect with former colleagues, sometimes to meet educators just starting out, and always to stay grounded in the work of building global community. These visits are my way of giving back, of staying connected, and of honoring a life shaped by learning on the move.
Classroom community isn’t just about posters and icebreakers. It’s about trust, mutual respect, inclusive practices, and intentional connection—the kind that makes every learner feel seen and safe, especially those navigating new languages, cultures, abilities, or learning needs.
In global classrooms, especially, building that sense of belonging isn’t a “nice-to-have.” It’s essential. When I speak, I share the stories of the incredible educators who’ve shaped me and supported our family along the way. I bring their brilliance with me—through personal, heartfelt, often hilarious storytelling that celebrates the magic of teaching and the everyday heroes doing the work.
