We loved the 1.8-mile loop trail near Colorado Springs for its easy and scenic route, perfect for a quick and enjoyable family outing for a group not used to the Utah July heat.  The trail, popular with hikers and walkers of all ages, offered beautiful views, a friendly atmosphere, and great photo ops!

The 2.6-mile out-and-back Artpark Trail near Lewiston, New York, offers a rare view of the Niagara River below the Falls. This is an easy and popular route that takes about an hour to complete. The trail is mostly easy but starts to get overgrown once you pass under the international Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. With kids, that was our turnaround point, but we had a soccer ball with us and enjoyed lots of open space in the park.

When our kids were small, we loved short hikes like this one that allowed them to carry their own bags and offered a rewarding payoff at the end. Hawk Falls is a scenic 25-foot waterfall near the confluence of Hawk and Mud Run. The 1.2-mile out-and-back trail is easy enough to trek with kids in all seasons and takes about 30-45 minutes to complete for most families.
